Mock Orange by Lamm - Philadelphus coronarius
Philadelphus coronarius - As you approach the "back of the home" down the back driveway, you will see mock orange - Philadelphus coronarius. "It is grown in landscapes primarily for its 4-petaled, very fragrant, white flowers (each to 1 1/2” across) which bloom abundantly in May to early June in small clusters (5 to 7- flowered racemes). Each flower purportedly resembles the shape of an orange blossom, hence the common name of mock orange.

The White Oak
This White oak is a 150-year old specimen tree. White Oaks are one of the most important species of oak trees. Their wood is used for furniture, flooring, and specialty items such as wine and whiskey barrels, and for shipbuilding in colonial times. Acorns are a favorite food source for birds, squirrels, and deer. Native Americans used portions of this tree for medication. Let's measure its circumference!! (Show your kids, grandkids.)
