The Chapel Hill Garden Club members contribute their time and gardening talent to beautify the community and spread the love of gardening. Our biennial Garden Tour allows the club to make generous donations to a variety of organizations that are aligned with the club’s mission. Past Garden Tours have provided contributions to the organizations below as well as many others.
The North Carolina Botanical Garden (NCBG) is the primary beneficiary of Tour proceeds with $295,500 donated to date. CHGC provides support through donations, volunteer efforts, and by funding specific projects or plant collections.
The Children’s Wonder Garden at the North Carolina Botanical Garden is the ultimate destination for K-12 self-guided field trips. Designed for discovery, it invites kids to be kids—whether they’re jumping across stumps, exploring the "little woods," or experimenting in the digging area.
CHGC actively supports the Estes Hills Elementary School gardening project, providing funding and volunteers resources, helping kids learn about healthy food and gardening.
CHGC volunteers care for a section of the gardens at the Ronald McDonald House which offers physical support and emotional comfort to the families of children who need hospital care.
The upkeep and care of the entrance flower bed is tended by CHGC members.
The club supplies kits containing gardening tools and helpful information to new Habitat for Humanity homeowners in these counties.
Learning Outside connects children with the natural world through programs held entirely outdoors, year-round. A selected number of scholarships are provide through the Chapel Hill Garden Club.
The Wonder Connection is a local, tiny nonprofit that brings joy to hospitalized kids and teens at UNC Hospitals through science and nature activities. CHGC helps support garden related programming.
